Walk Michigan is a non-competitive program that began in 1985, created by Michigan Recreation and Parks Association. The program was organized to provide Michiganians with opportunities to improve their health and fitness while encouraging them to enjoy the recreational facilities and parks resources provided in their local community. Walkers can walk as little or as long as possible. Every time you walk you will fill out a slip to be entered to win the Labor Day Bridge Walk trip to Mackinac Island! Walk times and dates are below. Please call 810-299-4143 for the location of the table at each event. Please visit http://www.selcra.com/ or http://www.mrpaonline.org/Programs/WalkMichigan.aspx for more information. The Labor Day Bridge Walk trip is sponsored by Green Oak Village Place Mall. The prize trip to the 54th annual Labor Day Mackinac BridgeWalk is described on the Michigan Recreation and Park Association website as follows:
Great Goal, Great Opportunity — the Mackinac Labor Day Bridge Walk A trip for 2 (two) to Mackinac Island on Labor Day weekend to walk the Bridge with the Governor and thousands of walking enthusiasts is a great incentive to keep people walking. If communities or sponsors purchase the trip package, each time a walker participates in a Walk Michigan! event, they sign a registration card and have the chance to win the trip to Mackinac Island. The Walk Michigan! package can also be purchased as a travel program for individuals. The Mackinac Bridge Labor Day Walk package is a four-day/three night stay on Mackinac Island at the beautiful Mission Point Resort beginning Friday evening and culminating in the bridge walk and brunch on Monday morning.
